Can stock electrical handle 1500 watts rms

Recommended Posts

hmm, probably the dmm im using. batts measured with dmm and voltage at the amp is measured with the xscorpion volt meter. ill test it when i get my box put back together. im still upgrading my batts so i can get more power later... if i choose to do that.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

I run a 1500 watts Sundown amp and 320 watts for my front speakers.

I have 0 gauge wire from batt to the trunk and 0 ga for grounds (one for the battery, another for the 1500 w amp).

All with stock alternator, stock battery.

My voltage doesn't move when palying. Honestly, I may loose 0.1 less when I play at full tilt, comparing to the voltage with sound off.

With the same system , but with just a 1000 w amp, it was even better : no difference at all playing, or not playing !!!

Only the A/C give me big voltage drops !

OEM head unit, Amplifiers Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200.

Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats.

2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a 2.6 ft3  ported box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.

look we're not saying get a huge alt setup and we're not riding steve meade's dick ...

its just a good idea to move up from stock on a multiple battery setup. the current demanded to charge the batteries as well as to run the amps is much greater on high performance batteries .. plus the audio system.. on 1.5kw? you need something. i've seen cars shut off because the audio system draws too much juice. i've seen amps melt things on the heatsinks cuz the thermal protection was shot.. all because of low voltage and shitty electrical.

and i don't give a shit what anyone says.. i can hear voltage drop. when you've got a hifonics 2610 in a cavilier off of stock electrical pushing a 1 ohm load... shit breaks. thats why smart men upgrade and dumb kids break things.

just my .02

I like getting ALL the POWER I pay for.

#1 1000watt rms amp cea rated @ 1000 @ 14.4v

does roughly 750 @ 12v

should have just bought a 750watt amp and ran the right electrical IMO

So, do whatever you need to do to keep your voltage up at 14v PERIOD.

Can you "get away with it"?? Yes..sure...absolutely.

When you guys spend so much time, getting the best product for the cheapest price, why would you just half-ass you charging needs???

Thats all

With that vehicle it's not needed off that much power, but I would suggest the extra batt and big 3.. I used to run 3k daily in my old '06 Sonata(w/ the v6) and it was just fine with the big 3 + a Kinetik 1000 under hood / 2400 in back. Btw the amps weren't the most efficient either(gold model AB VFL150.1s).
