ATLien
Yes it was smoking and yes I'm using mat. I fucked up my only mixing cup so I just filled up a big tupperware bowl, dumped it in and rotated the box till everything was covered, and touched up with a brush. I've taken a lot of pics but I'll post a couple just for a preview. I even hooked it up today and the shit bumps pretty good for the equipment I have. I duck taped the mat in place. I know it looks shitty but I'm learning as I go here...

Sanitarium
Didn't read every post but... yes, i used those $0.78 plastic paint mixing cups from wal-mart to mix my resin in. And i found that when using a brush trying to soak matt, 8 ounces of the bondo resin, 1 ounce of acetone, and adjust hardner levels to compensate for your work temperture. remember the 14 drops per ounce suggestion was meant/tested at room temperture. when it's hot out, use less, when it's cold, use more. Anything more then 8 ounces of resin and i would either get in a hurry and make a mess, or it would start turning to cottage cheese on me before i could use it all. also, a couple ounces of acetone in a seperate cup to keep your brush in is helpful to keep from going through a ton of brushes. as long as theres acetone on the bristles, the resin won't dry. ATLien
I just used 18sq. ft. of mat and 120oz of resin. This thing should be niice and strong now.
skittlesRgood
go to auto zone and get the automotive resin. it takes an hour or 2 to dry instead of 5-10 min. so it'll never harden up in the cup. then just turn on a portable heater and itll dry up quick. i dont measure anything out. i pour it into a cut up milk jug and just say "i think 50 drops will be good" im taking a break for putting resin in my box too. waiting for it to dry before i put the ports back in.
