I'm jealous, not so much of the truck or even the equipment, jealous that you have had two of the best in the business build your truck...amazing, truly. Ric Thornton Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 here's some updated pics from today... there's a few top secret things I'm not going to post pix of, so unless you come to the shop you wont see them until the build is complete. hehe but on with the pix... I finally finished up the fuse holder... grinding away the backside of the connector... Few closeups... Me holding the fuse bracket system... this thing is heavy too!! so... back to these little things... time to start laying out for cutting circles for the baffle... Gary using the circle guide and router to make some nice pretty round holes for the super tweeters... (ok woofers) Gary gives it a thumbs up... also the inside of each hole was roundover with a 1/2" roundover bit to make it pretty.

Ric Thornton Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks to everyone for all the comments. I'm really honored to be working on this vehicle for Trippi. This Hummer is a SMD legend. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy... Honestly... thanks again for all the kind words. Makes me want to do more. I have been working on this Monster 17 hours a day for the past 11 days... I'm really getting exhausted at this point... you guys have to know... the only person that works at my shop is ME. I do have Team Pulse members Gary and Matt volunteering their time to help me get this done, and even Chode says he's coming down tomorrow to help me a bit. I really do appreciate all the help I get from these guys, makes me proud to have them as team mates and friends. That being said... Bad News... I don't think I can finish this truck by tomorrow... I tried, but there is just not enough hours in a day. I have to sleep a little bit. lol I am leaving wed for MECA finals, and will return Monday and get my hands back on this monster... If I was not leaving for finals It would be done by Friday. The thing is I was supposed to have this truck for 3 weeks... I have had it for 11 days. I think alot of work has been accomplished in that short time, judging by your comments, I think you feel the same way. Trippi is sooo cool. He said it was not an issue to keep it til next friday... and I even got a smile out of him today. I want to make Trippi, and all you SMD fans out there happy... so I'm making sure it's done right. I don't cut corners, never have... never will, to try and get something done faster. I won't sacrifice quality for anyone. That's just me. I will have more pix posted tomorrow... It's 1am now, I'm tired... gettin up at 7 to work some more... see ya STAY TUNED! PS... Steve... I joined as a "gold member" (haha) to show my support for SMD. That is a good question... I spoke with Nick from Ascendant Audio about this very issue. He has assured me that with a 3.75" front baffle it won't be an issue. I am still considering an option I had in mind from the beginning regardless... the thing is... I don't want to build anything that will block pressure causing standing waves. These subs were supposed to come with bolts that went into the back of the woofer but I did not get any with the subs when I got the equipment... I do have an idea... and I have someone coming to look and fix an issue that has bugged me since the truck was pulled into my bay. (again, I'm picky) and I may just put him to work on welding a bracket to make supports using steel. we will see. goodnite all.
