W/E, just let him this would be a nice set up, a big step up, it would be worth the wait...

*EDIT

you could buy the subs now, build the box, and then have him save the for the amp, he could pound away until you get the new amp, and then POW, with the new amp, he would have a hole new system....

I'd 2nd the waiting. my entry level setup I got cheap except I'm already wanting to see how big of an amp I can go on my stock electrical and get some better subs that can handle more.

If your patient you can find some deals. I know they are entry level but I got my prefab polk box with 2 Polk DB 12s for $149 new from Frys electronics sale and my Punch 600.1BD I got used off craigslist for $80.

If he's wanting something cheap for now I'd look for someone who is upgrading and trying to unload a decent amp/sub combo

dude, you can a new AQ 1200D for 249 shipped, get him save like another $50 and these kicker subs Ebay. That would be a good first setup with a proper built box!

agreed, that would be a perfect first system

Look at these :http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/12%22-SSA-DCON-12D4%7B47%7DS4.html

You can have 2 of them and look for a used amp on this forum : With a 600 watts rms amp your friend will be fine.

I'm sure you can find a good 500-600 watts rms amp for $100.

He can also run only one sub : why not a 15" ?

The one sub-solution would be the cheapest way to start a good system.

for example :http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/12%22-SSA-ICON-12D1%7B47%7DD2.html with any amp, until he can have a good one !

These 2 subs are not spl subs but they sound sooooo good !

There are dozens of subs in the market, so, good luck !

black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp

OEM head unit, Amplifiers Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200.

Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats.

2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a 2.6 ft3  ported box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
