chewie Posted April 20, 2010 Report Share Posted April 20, 2010 3k is too much for a LVL4 with LVL5 coil IMO DC LVL4XL or DC LVL5 is what i would go with lol.. right.. considerin i plugged mine into the wall for around 45 seconds and it was barely warm.. that calculates to what around 4400 rms @60hz i also put my level 4 with level 5 coil on my buddys xxv collossus and it lauged and soaked it up.. two hours of playing and it was hardly warm on the dust cap.. oh and that was with a half ripped spider... 91 dodge colt gt.. 4 custom t600 15s audioque 3500d.1 tuned to 25 hz... stay tuned. blazer stroker 15 brutus bxi2006d terrible voltage drop 145.4@38HZ... Just less motor force. Perhaps the motor has different cooling though. I am glad you touched on that point. Subs do get fatigued and worn over time. Especially these woofers with small spiders. The 8.5" and under spiders get stretched to the limit and over time can lose ability to maintain linearity. They are also easier to rip on full excursion. Mostly in long full power sessions. Otherwise, power handling should be close.
