3ddi31002 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 ohkay so i have a question on how to charge a batt. its in the car now and i bought a cheap schumacher sc-1000a for like 40 at autozone. do i have to take it out of the car or can i just charge it in the car and if so do i have to disconnect the ground for the chassi and my wires going to the amps?
dmanson Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 i charge my batteries at times while it's hooked up in my truck, i disconnect nothing, just connect the + and - clamps from the charger and that's it. now i use to do that before i got the MLA ........... with my batteries seeing 15.3/4 every day i really don't need to charge them. 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative. spl4life Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 you can charge it in the car... i jus wouldnt recommened starting it while on the charger.. unless you have a 50 amp charging start option on the charger... either way... no problem charging it while hooked up... So I hook the Charger an then crank the car and let it charge or crank it first and then plug it up? And why does cranking it or leaving it turned off matter??

So car on or off??
