(as long as its termlab and NOT something close....99.9% will say TL or nothing) unless you wanna spend $650 and buy your own TL; then you can test for yourself...just an idea Quote Clicky for build log.... 2002 Tahoe DC Power Inc 3 alt bracket with 2x230a. alts 1 stock Eclipse CD5030 2 JL HD 600/4 4 Rockford Fosgate 2500bdcp's 4 DC Audio 18" XL's 4 Pr MB Quart Premium Components 200FT Stinger HPM 1/0 Rockford 360.2 No where near enough sound deadening
kl0wn
i was thinking about going to the local audio shop cuz they have a termlab (or something close) but they wants 20 bucks :/ I would just pay the money to get an idea of what numbers you are pulling off. Local shop around here charged me $25 and I did not even get to control my own H/U. to pthrift, that is just a rule of thumb in the "science behind hair trick video" made by Ed. You can do a hair trick with hitting lower than that, but it's not hair getting blown up and moving erratically like we all like it to. Off topic for a minute though, not trying to thread jack or anything, but pthrift. It says your location is VA, may I ask where in VA you are located? You can PM me if you would like so we do not thread jack the OP. herbykw
if you build a better box or a wall, you might not be able to get a full hair trick, but you should be able to get some hair movin. Hell if you wall it, you should be able to do better then mine. I like my back seat too much to Wall. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DBkSH6nJtw Edited May 5, 2010 by herbykw Quote 06 300C 5.7 Hemi K&N CAI JVC KW-AVX640 6.1" DVD DC Audio 3.5k 6 DC Audio 8"s 6 cubes 8" aero port at 32hrtz http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183798-chrysler-300c-8-build/?p=2731834#entry2731834

Boon
Hairtricks are difficult I would say that yeah, 150dB+ is needed unless you're tuned real low. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
Ben G.
My bud has a 3k also. He is running 2 18"s in the hatch. Box is undersized. It is a sealed box because he is a firm beilever in them for some reason. He has about 4-5 cubes and the subs are real close to the hatch. He is under powering the woofers by half. I mean he has enough power to make one happy. LMAO. He messed around with the latch so the hatch does not flex as much. Did a real nice job with it. It moves hair a tweak already. A lot more needs to be done with this system. I would suggest making a real nice box that hugs the lines of the hatch. IDK what your sub wants for cubes but i bet you can get close to what you need. I would say Sub in the middle of the box and port whereever you would like. My buddy also cut the round plastic peice that dips down on the hatch lid for more clearance for subs. toaster
See my avatar. That's 2 alpine typ-r 12s on 2kws. It metered 148.3 @ 43 hz. For hair tricks it's all about tuning. That setup was tuned to 32 hz and moved tons of air. My newest setup with 2 AQ 15s on 3.3kws doesn't move near as much air, but it's tuned to 43 hz and meters a hair under 152dbspl. fecupe2001
Yes it´s difficult, but you don´t need a 150 to get a hairtrick, my swift did 147.1 on the TL sealed on the dash and it did big hairtricks, i don´t have a video But, it stills move a lot of air with a 2K amp hitting barely a 145.5 on the TL and 3 10" subs, so i would say, depends on the tuning and box size really, on the other hand, the sexplorer it´s hitting around 151 on the TL with a 42 hz tuning and doesn´t move any hair hahaha Quote I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. skittlesRgood
Rule of thumb according to Ed is that you need around 150db to pull off an actual hair trick. i have to disagree. i know a few guys with 1 18" or 2 15"s doing 145-147db and they can do hairtricks. on music i could do 149.5ish and i couldnt get a hairtrick. i burped a 150.4 but never did a tone with a girl in the window.
