Not trying to pick on you bro...but this is an incorrect statement. The odb for the newer vehicles will also show electronic information. Every once in a while, I hook up an ODB III just to see my fuel consumption to check my pumps.

interesting...

how new of a vehicle ?

would something around a 01' work ? perhaps a chevy venture ?

*sorry to jack thread*

the oldest vehicle that I typically do scans on is a 2000. Not for any particular reason, that is just the oldest vehicle that is in our pack.

As far as i can tell my mother didnt take good care of her car except for like the oil and stuff. the fuel filter hasent been replaced so I dont think the spark plugs and wires have been changed either. I can't find the damn fuel filter either. She decided she is going to trade it in. All she wants is to get the thing started so we can take it to the dealer. We are looking at a 07 Kia sportage or a 07 kia optima.

If the ECM has memory to keep that stuff then yes it will show. Example, My Cummins ECM shows every drop of fuel that has gone through the pump, it shows average ecomony from all of the fuel burned, max speed, max rpm, hours on motor, how many times the motor has been started.

Cummins specifically stores this information because of people being known to add power modules and such. This way if cummins had a motor that came in destroyed, they could see if the fuel consumption spiked. But not all manufactures care about details like this, so most don't store much.

Mastersound15 - Sorry to hear that she has chosen to go the way that you were not hoping...but definately wish her luck.
