Using sound dampener to hold stuff together?

Recommended Posts

I'm about to head out to lowes, and if someone thinks deadener will hold this I'm trying it will peel and seal, or if I should get anything that will do it that will go in like a caulk gun or something?

The peice of wood that's holding it up so it doesn't flap around and do a roof trick as I call it should work fine.
