A&W ROOTBEER Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 im getting a rockford fosgate amp from a friend its the T500-1bd rated at 500watts at 1ohm, but the birth sheet says 741 watts, so heres my questions with 741 watts..should i put all that power into 1 12'' idqv3 or divide it into 2 12'' idq v3's? so about 370 watts into each sub..and the subs are rated at 750 watts each so what do you guys think? space is not a issue each sub only needs .7-1 sq ft each

I would use the manufacturers ratings because they would know best. I would get the one sub though, even if its rated at 500 watts. You just need to tune the amp smart. My dads friend has a T1000-1bd (I believe 1350 watts RMS) on 2 older Alpine Type-Rs. audiofanaticz Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 you will never give the woofer that 741 watts constantly at all frequency after impedance rise anyways. 1 woofer should be fine as long as you remember that the gain knob is not a volume knob and it dont belong all the way up "because it sounds louder".
