Aero Ports

Recommended Posts

to clarify:

to find area: pi*r^2 (or pi*r*r)

to find volume (displacement): pi*r^2*h (or pi*r*r*h)...h=length of the port

example: one 6" port that is 10" long

area=3.14*3^2

area=28.26sq"

volume(displacement) =3.14*3^2*10

volume(displacement)=282.6cubic"

volume(displacement) in terms of cubic feet = 282.6/1728 = .1635cft

more clarification..lol

here is a pic. the red is port area, the blue is volume (displacement). now SURFACE AREA would be the actual physical surface of the black tubing that u can touch, but that is not volume or displacement, displacement is the volume of the air inside of the tube!

i think everyone here is looking for the volume of the port... for tuning

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

ok ok...i think we are all talking about the same thing. volume is for displacement, but it is also in the equation to figure tuning (the one that i use anyways) and i think that is where we are all gettin confused with each other. here is the equation i use (it looks a lot more complicated than it really is, especially if u arent good at math)

Fb = .159*((Av(1.84*10^8)/(Vb(Lv+.823*Av^.5))^.5

Fb = tuning frequency

Av = vent area

Vb = net volume in cubic inches

Lv = effective length of vent

effective length = physical length + end correction <---1/2 of the ports width

so u need both the port area and the port volume for this equation, but NOT the surface area.

any help?

oh, and in the equation when u see ^.5, that is just another way of saying the square root...that is how u have to do it in excel though.
