difference between 2 and 2.6 cu ft box?

Recommended Posts

hey guys im looking at a sealed box and the specs on the sub are 2-2.6 cu ft..i only have 1 shot at this since im having someone build the box for me and i dont have money to try a few different boxes..so my questions is this, if i go near the lower 2.0 cu ft the sub will be deeper, lower but the output will be lower, and if i go towards the 2.4-2.6 the sub will have more output but wont be as low?

other way around

a larger box usually plays lower than a smaller one

however with larger boxes comes more of a chance of over excursion, so less power is recommended.

I would go with the bigger box if its ported smaller for a sealed box

In my truck I had a 3.9 cube box and it peaked @ 41 Hz. Now I'm down to 2.65 cubes & peaking at 38. I'm not sure why though because like punkrock said it should have peaked higher.

Current System:

Pioneer 6900 HU

Front Stage: (for now)

Soundstream tarantula 5.25 in the doors

Soundstream tarantula 4x6 in the dash

Kenwood 400.4 for mids & highs

Bass:

4 Soundstream RW-12's

2 Power Acoustik Stax 4000/1D's

single chamber box, 2.65 cubes.

Currently under the knife being bagged

Rebuilding err'thang

i'll have the box made close to 2.6cft if not the full 2.6cft espcaially if you have enough room in your trunk i think it's not too much big of a difference between 2-2.6 but a little tho
