But basically its saying that at higher frequencies, the speed of sound will change in relation to the sound wave.

In a non-dispersive medium sound speed is independent of sound frequency, so the speeds of energy transport and sound propagation are the same. For audible sounds air is a non-dispersive medium. But air does contain a small amount of CO2 which is a dispersive medium, and it introduces dispersion to air at ultrasonic frequencies (> 28 kHz).[3]

In a dispersive medium sound speed is a function of sound frequency, through the dispersion relation. The spatial and temporal distribution of a propagating disturbance will continually change. Each frequency component propagates at its own phase velocity, while the energy of the disturbance propagates at the group velocity.

Is this referring to my plane reference?

If not, the original numbers thrown out there were 21kHz and 20mm linear excursion so that's what I've been basing my info on. And due to the rate of the cone, it would overthrow dispersion laws in the direction it's travelling.

nah, I had the info in my head but did a search to support what I was thinking. I knew that pressure doesnt change the speed of sound, but I was just trying to remember about how frequency effects it and could quite remember.

BTW, I wonder if condensation would occur.

It was in reference to a cone traveling faster than the speed of sound in general. And I know that 21K hz was mentioned as an example. But since ultrasonic sounds were in discussion I thought it would be interesting to see the relation of how really high frequency work with the speed of sound.

Heck yeah, and the friction of air on the cone itself could heat it up a great amount. If it was paper, it may combust, haha

Heck yeah, and the friction of air on the cone itself could heat it up a great amount. If it was paper, it may combust, haha

but if were goin off the theory that it can handle such friction, then that wouldnt be a factor. it would more or less stay a within a small range of heat as far as the cone is concerned, but i would think it would at least make the magnet and any other metal parts slightly wet given how violent the air would rip past it droping the temp. but it may also do it inside the car as well..... or whats left of it lol.
