pRoFsWiRlY Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 I ask because I started hearing a funny noise while playing some low level bass, so a buddy and i pulled them out... motors and coils are fine, but we noticed that I had electrical arcing between the + and - on one of my terminal sets. Those are slightly over 1.5 inches apart. Tossed some silicone around the - on both sides of the box just to make sure and now that noise is gone away. Scary to see that happening to your project! The breakdown voltage (voltage required to get an arc) of air is about 33kV/cm You're suggesting you had 125000v between the terminals on your box? You must have one super, super badass amplifier. 10.x volts fo' life!
