thx1138
I have this sub http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-CompVR-07CVR122-12-Inch-Subwoofer/dp/tech-data/B000N8MW8W/ref=de_a_smtd And this amp seems to be perfect for it http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/7964817/vpcsid/0/SFV/30046 I also like the fact that the max is only 800w and the max of my sub is 800w and its 400w rms 1 channel @ 4 ohm and I plan to run my sub in a series for 4 ohm. I also like the fact it has a volt gauge and an active fan. I'm not familiar with the brand at all and I'm currently trying to find reviews but I would also like to see what you guys think based on the sub I have. If you vote in the poll please let me know why you chose what you chose. Thanks! Edited June 3, 2010 by thx1138
Guest
1) theres a reason they went out of business bro... 2) that amp has a 20 amp fuse. 20 amps times 14.4v = 288 watts. since no amp is 100% efficient, lets do 70%. so 288*.7 = 200w. that means on a GOOD DAY itll output 200rms if your voltage is exactly 14.4v. 3) heres an amp that will do well with your woofer. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9210_Phoenix+Gold+Ryval+V1502.html wire your woofer + to - and + to - and put one + to one side of the amp and one - to the other side of the amp (aka bridging)

CaptainzPlanetz
IMO the only Audiobahn amp that was good, was that bigass rack style amp.....I wouldnt mind running one of those. teamace24
Not a fan either but some audiobahn amps are really good, such as the a1300hcq rated at 1200 rms, and when i tested it side by side with my audioque 1200d, the audiobahn was exactly as powerful so it might of even been underrated. Its the huge one with the big flames on top, really ugly but its powerful and sounds clean. thx1138
Ok thanks for the advice I had no idea they went out of business. So with the phoenix amp you recommended wiring the sub paralell and then bridging the amp. If I wire it parallel wont it decrease impedence to 1 ohm? Minimum impedence bridged is 4 ohm and the specs dont state the amp is 1 ohm stable at any type of wiring. . . And if I wired the sub series that amp does 500w @ 4 ohms bridged that wont be overpowering my little sub? At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I didn't know about the type of fuse multiplied by the batt. voltage would help me figure out how much power its really putting down. It makes sense though. Also just realized the max input gauge is 8. I already have 4g wire in my car from my last set up. Finding an amp is such a pain in the ass. Can you recommend anything else? My new sub has been sitting here all week and I'm starting to get ancy, guess I'll bump my max spending limit to $150. <- poor student Thanks! bassl0va
If you're careful with the gains it will be fine. Also, you will have a hard time finding a amp for $150 Quote My RE MT 18" wall build Former build, farewell beloved wall.In progress, Toyota Starlet build This forum has a massive boner for ridiculous electrical upgrades. CaptainzPlanetz
Little more than your budget, but a ton of people have been happy with this amp, plus it gives you plenty of room to upgrade subs later on. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AUDIOPIPE-1500W-MONO-Car-Audio-Amplifier-Amp-Sub-/230467600391?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item35a8f08007#ht_3931wt_930 Just run the sub in series and you will get 600rms at 4 ohms, and just be gentle with the gains. thx1138
If you're careful with the gains it will be fine. Also, you will have a hard time finding a amp for $150 All I want is 400w rms I've been finding plenty in the 100 range there always just one thing that stops me from buying it though like it being discontinued but you order it because its available on a site and they don't say it was discontinued and you wait 3 days for it to ship before you get a email saying the order was canceled because it has been discontinued. It'll be fine even at 1 ohm like the other guy recommended? What wattage would it be getting at 1 ohm? Little more than your budget, but a ton of people have been happy with this amp, plus it gives you plenty of room to upgrade subs later on. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AUDIOPIPE-1500W-MONO-Car-Audio-Amplifier-Amp-Sub-/230467600391?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item35a8f08007#ht_3931wt_930 Just run the sub in series and you will get 600rms at 4 ohms, and just be gentle with the gains. Thanks man but that is way more than I need. I don't plan on upgrading at all. I used to have a decently loud system but all I want now is that single 12.
