I'm building my box tomorrow,

Its for a single 18" nightshade, gonna be powered by 2x DAT 1000.1's

I do not have fold down seats... But i do have an armrest hole thats like 8"x8"

My three options are in the poll

Sub up, port up

Sub up, port back

Sub up, port through Armrest

I was leaning towards the third option.

Thanks fellas

yeah i say port thru the deck.. but put sub back not sub up you gonna get alot of rattle

Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal?

heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked.

i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat

when I had my trunk car i did port back sub back and folded my seats down and the shit got pretty loud. I can't say anything about armrest of up because ive never done it. Well I know with port up you will get a lot of flex.

I would port through the deck.. but thats too much damn glassing and shit that i just dont have the time/experience for...

Also, its an 18" sub... it doesn't fit facing backwards, lol

Also... like i said in my original post, my seats dont fold down... I looked into making them fold down.. but there was too many electronic components that would need to be moved.

And as to rattle... something tells me im gonna get rattle no matter what i do. But, thats what second skin is for.

You are going to lose so much output to that trunk, i would invest in making your seats fold down, even if you have to used cheap simple hinges and velcro. But If thats absolutely impossible I would do slot port firing towards one of the sides of the trunk. With sub up of course, and deaden the trunk to death. I put 3/4" MDF on my trunk, and I'm still trying to add some more strength to it. Trunks are evil, gotta get around their weaknesses.

It's all gone!

Making the seats fold is absolutely impossible... there is metal support bars behind the seats, and they have like 6 different electronic sensors/computers attached to them.

Not only would i have to cut out a large part of the interna frame.. but i would have to extend like 50 wires... lol

rip out the rea deck sheet metal and make somewhat of a speaker grill to cover it and that could open up some space to let in more aire  face it al forward selaing off from the trunk but angling the sub so it fits? man i know them trunks are a bitch(atleast the 98s)
