What should i do?

My cousin gave my his Hifonics BX2200D it went straight into protect with only the ground, power, and remote.Is this amp worth fixing to keep, sell, 0r should i just get a used MB Quart discus 2k?

whats a constant? i assume you mean power (12v), remote turn-on, and ground.

did he say what happened right before it went into protect for him? it could be something as little as a single copper strand of wire got into the amp and is shorting something out, or as "big" as showing the amp low voltage and smoking some components inside

it is called constant. meaning there is always power running to it. also knows as "hot"

take it to repair shop and have them test it for you, it may be an easy inexpensive fix. if so let them repair it if not your out a couple of bucks for a bench test, you got the amp for free.

Didn't have a chance to talk to him for long he told me it worked fine and i could have it then I put it in my s10 4 gauge power 0/1 gauge ground

Yes im just on a tight budget wanted to see if you guys think this amp is worth putting money into vs putting that money into a different amp

if your on a tight budget in my opinion it would be better to see what's wrong with it and make a decision based on what you find out. most shops charge a bench fee and will add that to the cost of the repair should you decide to get it fixed. so if the repair ends up costing you 100.00 bucks lets say, your still ahead of the game versus kicking out lets say 250 or 300 on another amp.
