I used to shut mine down due to lack of of voltage b4 I added multiple alts...... sorry if I wasnt much help but with vehicle electrical its a matter of more is better.... so should it better to get a 300 amp irraggi alt and the 250 to run the truck nd the irragi for the system Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The truck does not need 250 amps to run, you would be wasting the current from the second alternator that could be used by the system. By the way, most 250 amp alternators are not going to have great output at 500 engine rpm, so your voltage results are pretty normal.
