boomin
For my next setup, I have narrowed it down to: - 1 Fi 15" Q D1 wired to 2 ohms on my Elemental Designs nine.1 In a custom 3-3.5 maybe 4 cubic foot box -2 Alpine Type R's wired to 2 ohms on my ED 9.1. Prefab 3.0 cubic box its good though ported 3/4 MDF ect The amp will be changed out soon after i get it setup to a Alpine MRP1000. My main goal is SQL. Whats louder 2 type R's 12" on 1000 rms or 1 15" Fi Q on 1000 RMS and also what puts more strain on my electrical a 2 ohm or 1 ohm sub amp load? or does it not make a difference. hamel52
2 type r's 12's in the right box will kill that q i know because i have a friend with 2 type r 12s and one that had a 15in bl and the type r's where alot louder, also the guy with the bl built both boxes so it didn't have anything to do with one enclosure being superior and the 12's were powered by a alpine pdx 1.1000 which i sold to him and the bl by a fosgate 1000.1 bd. also 1 ohm puts more strain on the electrical, the lower ohms the less resistance so more strain Edited June 20, 2010 by hamel52
hdorre
What about a Fi SSD on that amp? It's cheaper and will the power is more appropriate Quote On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread

hamel52
well i mean either set up will be pretty good and loud really the only reason the r's are louder is because its more cone area, but ssd or q will be good as well don't get me wrong but r's will be better. boomin
what about the BL? i thought a 15" will have more SPL, according to the chart on the MTX website 1 15" will be louder than 2 12" with the same power on each setup Quote F/s: 2 custom made boxes, for 1 12" and 2 12" hit me up I'll let em go cheap

wL<3bass
The 2 12s may get louder but they aren't gonna sound near as good as that Q... Nowhere even close... And I've stomped quite a few 2 12 setups with my single 15" BL and my "1kw" amp. boomin
Will the Q be loud enough though? Will you still "hear me coming" or will it not be too loud? Whats louder a 15" Q or BL 15"? Or is there not really a difference? And I heard the Q hits the low lows which no setup ive had has been able to do good. EricR
Q for lows, bl will be slightly louder on more power obviously. If you want loud and low get the btl Quote i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
