Is My Port Too Small?

Recommended Posts

yeah well anything better than what i got now is worth it.. but my box now damn near takes the whole trunk up. And i want some working room.. heres a pic befoer i put my battery in. I really appreciate your input kirill.

IMO 2 15's in a ported box + that car will not work unless they're shallow mounts... Either wall it off, or sell them and buy 12's. See how much the box really comes into play? lol

EDIT: IS THAT A CAPACITOR I SEE???!?!?!?!

Yeah.. if i can build the same size box (minus like 4" of depth if possible) for 2 12's and a larger port.... it SHOULD hit louder than 142db on 2 lvl4's with the proper power

yea your trunk might even be a lil bigger, i say that because my box had to be built in 2 seperate and mounted together inside the car.. yours looks to be one piece.. Any who i would sell the subs and amp you have now and get some lvl 4-12s and a nice 3kw rms amp.. Port and subs firing forward and seal the trunk off

Dude, you're retarded clipped power isn't the same as under power. Subs blow with lower power because of user error.

Yep, because power will be higher when you're clipping.(and also square waves aren't good)

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

I think imma do that... but im gonna have to save a few bucks first ya know? But i think for now... im gonna tear the front of my box off.. and im gonna redo it so i can get just a slightly larger port for the time being.. and as far as sealing the trunk off.. im puttin that on hold too. cuz i was almost about to do that until i started my door pod project. But i just got a flat out on the interstate yesterday so im really on hold completely i need a whole new set of tires.

Well i could design one as well but i know i only have 15.5" tall MAX 33" Deep MAX & 36 Wide MAX and thats if i were to build a cube box without angling it aroudn my trunk

height :15

width :36

depth :33

port

height: 13.5

width: 7

lenth :25

sub displacement i put at .4 and 3 common port walls since it will be slot port and it comes to 6.3 cubes after displacement and 94.5in^2 of port thats what i would do for that system, no need to try and sell your subs and amp and all this when you can get one sheet of mdf for 30 bucks at home depot and build this box that will make it a million times better.

I dont have enough room width wise tho to do a 7" wide port with 2-15"s
