sseale04 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Hello, I have a 1997 Honda Accord 4 door with two Alpine type R 12s(fourth generation Model SWR-1243D). They're in a ported box that I purchased at best buy about a year or two ago. I also have a Rockford 1000.1bd. My sub are wired 1 ohm so I'm getting around 1400 rms to both subs together. Recently, i Just bought a new home theater system from Klipsh and the 10 inch sub that i bought (model number SW-450) hits lows way better than the alpines in my car and the Klipsh sub is only 200rms. What can i do to get my alpines to hit low end bass like that? is it a box issue? if it is, how much space do i need? I just want that low bass i get at home in my car. Sam Seale

Tune your box lower, as in build your own and dont get a prefab box. x2 Prefabs are usually tuned around 40hz and building a custom box to the specs of the Type Rs will sound better. typicaljawaiian Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I know tuning helps controll the sub at or around a certain frequency, but does it affect which types of bass (higher or lower) you actually hear? My box is tuned to ~ 31 hz and I don't notice much higher end bass on music. If I play straight tones though, I hear those just fine (38hz - 50hz). ?
