dh80
Hello All, I am trying to decide on the speakers to buy and who to install it also. The people I feel I trust with the install have a different selection of speakers but will install whatever I bring them. I am wanted some opinions from some knowledgeable folks that are not trying to push there products onto me. I know everyone has preferences and that is okay. I have been out of car audio since the late 90's and most of my friends just say buy Kicker. Alot of the shops around here do not have speakers to listen to so it makes it hard to pull the trigger on a purchase. I have a 2009 Ford F-150 Crew Cab with Microsoft Sync. I want to retain the Sync so I will be keeping the stock head unit. Everyone has told me that I can get away with not using a processor if I do not want and I think I will wait till I upgrade amps to do that. I currently have two 100w x 2 Phoenix Gold amps I will be using so I can get my speakers and install done now. What I can currently deciding between is: Front stage- Dynaudio Esotec 242 and Hertz Mille/MLK 165 Rear stage- At a later date maybe Sub- Digital Designs 1508 or Treo RSX 8" ( jl 8w7 will not fit) I have not heard the Treo and have not really found any reviews of them since there new. The JL will not fit under the rear seat because of the way the basket comes out without lifting the seat a couple of inches. I think I like the Dynaudio's because the tweeter seemed not as bright as the Hertz. I have been looking as later upgrading to maybe a Zapco or Audison amp. I like the Audison LRx 5.1k because if I don't run rear speakers I could run the front stage active or if I do run rear there's still enough power to run all speakers well. These amps are also high quality and over built from what I've read and I feel these amps will last me many years. I just don't know if I need to pay as much since I will not be competing. I can get a good deal on some used Diamond amps but I do not know much about them. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give you most of the info in the first post for people who may not want to read the whole thread. I also listen to Rap, R&B, Jazz, and quite a few Podcasts on my iPod. Thanks in advance also
CarbonImpactZ
The system sounds pretty good so far. You will LOVE the Hertz Mille/MLK 165. The sound great. The audio store in my town pretty much only sells Hertz, Audison and JL. But I will strongly recomend the Digital Designs 1508

Thanks for all the replies In my personal opinion the Hertz speakers would Rape the Dynaudio's. Not bad mouthing Dynaudio cuz they are great as well but i like Hertz much more. notorious97200
I have read lots of good reviews about the Hertz, but it's not easy to buy (expensive) speakers without listening. If you can find these 2 sets at a local shop, they must let you listen to them. Even in their own cars. Too much money for a blind purchase. But both should be good IMO. If you have the cash for the Zapco or Audison, go for them, but you can be very plreased with any good quality amp. Sundown Audio (I run 2 of them, and I like them a lot, good and complete crossovers, lot of power..), MTX, Kicker, Rocford,...and many more. The used Diamond can be a good deal too. For the sub, you really can't fit a 10" sub in there ? It would be better : the bigger, the better !!! The sa 8 from Sundown are badass !!! Try 2 of them ported, or just one if you don't have the room. Good luck. Quote black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a 2.6 ft3 ported box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.

I didnt even know they were still in business. That's what I've been readying about there customer service. I've talked to Steve from DD a couple times and he is super cool but a store I read there customer service is horrible also. I've also heard DD pretty much has no warranty and every time something goes wrong its $100.
