Nissan Pulsar Build Aussie Style

Hey all I thought I might start up a Build log of my daily hack.

I previously had some equipment in here but that was about 3 years ago. Since then I have played about with different mids x-overs tweeters woofers amps and head units.

The local car audio shop had a big sale up to 70% off. I couldn't resist and I bought a few items.

I grabbed a RF T400.2 for my weekend car and a RF R500.1 For this project.

I already had a Punch45 (25 to life edition) sitting in the other car. Along with the woofers that I have had since the day they were released in Australia. The speakers being used I bought for $30 a pair at my local parts store (I keep a close eye on the clearance list).

I woke up saturday morning and I felt somewhat motivated. I went to the hardware shop and grabbed a sheet of MDF and a box of 1000 screws (45mm long) $62.50.

I have had a box in mind for some time so I went with that one modified slightly as I went. 39x23x13 were the final dimensions with 56" of port tuned to approx 34hz.

The car it will all be going in

The woofers

Timber sitting in the back of the car I will all go into.

Part way thru mock assy

Testing where I want to put the woofers.

38190_418608784690_609299690_4423247_1457929_n.jpg

Making sure the holes are cut correctly (fail) Far one don't go all the way in

Finaly after testing in on the test amp in the shed in the back of the car with some temp ghetto wiring.

The end result is amazing. Shame I won't be pulling any hairtricks running only 500wrms on the 4 woofers but it is loud.

I have already started on the front door pods today as I got the box done in one afternoon and had some timber left over. I will get more pics up once the glassing gets finished tonight as my mate (pro on the glassing) is on the way over to get the glass layed out. They are just a simple bolt up job but will get the job done.

Well I am now part way thru the door pod builds. I have decided as the doors are just a simple flat panel that once the pods are made I will be screwing them to some new flat panels. I will run to the shop and grab some MDF tonight and start on the panels tonight. For now I have some progress pics of the pods.

The speakers that will be going.

Inside the box

39038_418661509690_609299690_4424816_3363137_n.jpg

In the rings I made. Not bad perfect fit first time. Not too bad for jigsaw work.

37625_418880489690_609299690_4431780_8019132_n.jpg

Factory trims witht the old pods. I will be glad to get rid of these.

34972_418880729690_609299690_4431782_8049379_n.jpg

The start of the pods. I routered the edges of the base plates so the glass sits nice and rounded as

these are designed to simply "bolt" in.

38537_418880834690_609299690_4431785_1616693_n.jpg

Starting to get the shapes and angles nice. Will require no cutting of the door metal.

39137_418881019690_609299690_4431790_1792886_n.jpg

All wrapped up ready for some resin.

38056_418908929690_609299690_4432280_2074868_n.jpg

First layer of resin layed on. Mate of mine that does this for me is great at getting it on there good and strong.
