hooking subs up to the computer?

aight so I had to take my 2 10's out of my car cuz my poor car couldn't handle it all with it's stock battery/alt. So is there a way I can plug in my 2 10's to my comp?

Get a cable with rcas on one end and and plug the other end one the back of your computer where the speaker output is. Get a plate amp from parts express. The rca's plug into the plate amp and then you have a way to play your subs through your computer. I would suggest a pair of nice powered desktops, I have the Bose. Then you get a pair of rca's and plug them into the output on the plate amp then plug into your desktops. Works pretty good for my setup.

Your better of leaving them in your car most likely. To hook them up to your computer youll need to get a PSU to power up your amp and chances are youll get less power from the PSU than your cars electrical.

This is the way I have mine set up and it works beautifully.

You will need:

1. Spare 12v battery
   
2. Spare amplifier
   
3. Toggle switch to conrtol REM wire on amp
   
4. 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA adapter cable
   
5. Battery Charger
   

I have a spare Marine Deep Cell battery on my floor right now. To this I have hooked up the power wires to my amplifier and a short length of speaker wire that I have hooked up to a switch that turns the amplifier on and off. Then I have a 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA adapter cable hooked into my headphone jack on my laptop and the other end plugged into the RCA inputs on my amplifier. I hooked up my subwoofer and speakers normally. Now I have crazy bass along with extra loud coax speakers hooked up since mine is a 4 channel amp hooked up into 3 channel mode. I was only using 2 channels at first but then when I built a new box for my boat subwoofer, I tested it out in my room and it hasn't moved since. I check the voltage of my battery every few days and when it gets low I hook up a battery charger real quick. So far I have only charged the battery once as a test to see how long it would take to drain it. It has been about two weeks and still running strong with no need of charging it yet. Also, when the box is complete, I am still not sure if subwoofer will make it back to my boat. I am liking the extra bass right now. I am getting two Pyle 15"s tomorrow and will probably be trying to make something decent of them for my room.

Do what REBEL said. I was in the process of typing my post when you added that you have a PSU. I did this with my stock dell PSU and it kept crapping out every time the bass dropped and needed actual power. Now I have switched to a deep cell marine battery though and love it!
