Anyway to lower the tuning on this box?

So after plugging in the specs into Bass Box Pro, it highly recommends a sealed enclosure for this type of sub. It also says the same thing in the owners manual on Rockford's web site. The owners manual doesn't even offer any specs for a ported enclosure. I can try to do a ported enclosure if you want but it may not yield very good results. What do you want to do?

Hey J-Lane. Just helping Rebel out here. The measurements he gave are of the box he has currently. Not his max usable space. I think he has it under his computer desk so he has a lot more space to work with then that but if sealed is what's recommended Rebel you'll have a very easy time building the box.

depending on how the top is attached you could maybe peel the fabric back and pop the top off and change the entire port. it looks waay too narrow to me like most prefabs are. you probably are getting quite a bit of port noise out of that thing.

Except the fact than when he extends the port inward the internal volume will shrink and the tuning will still be high.

Ok. Just checking. Lol. Thought you might have measured your box. If it's recommended to run then sealed that's what I would say do. You could test it out with your current box. Using wood or something and glue try to make each sub in it's own sealed chamber and see how it sounds.

Could I block off the port?

EDIT: Will having it sealed still slam hard as it does now?

This is actually what I would suggest trying first. Just to see if you want to try and make the recommended sealed enclosure instead of a ported one. You should notice the bass should sound much more tight and controlled and you might hear a little more low end but it may lose some of that boom in the upper frequency range. Just curious, what kind of music do you listen too?

I listen to rap, slowed songs, chopped and screwed songs, Just about ANYTHING that has bass. I love the lows!

EDIT: And to test my subs sealed with this box I have now could I just block the port?

Well, I would give it try (sealing the port) and see what you think. I would also recommend trying to isolate the subs in their own enclosure because two subs sharing a sealed enclosure can sometimes have strange results. Try it on several songs and see what you think and let us know.
