Autruche
nice lookin build =].id like to see better mids & highs to go with it, other than that pretty nice. Yeah, he's typical 18 year old going into his senior year of high school, he wants more bass than treble. I'm selling him my old amp and 6x9s because he wants more power for the treble, but mostly he just likes the light up speakers like I did when I was his age, lol. Basically he'd rather spend $$$ on a sub and amp than on components and a 4 channel, but I can't complain, because I will undoubtedly have the loudest, clearest treble in my little town, lol. Heres a link to a triple 300a alt setup pretty cool imo. although could look cleaner. Damn, that is ghetto. Exactly where we're putting the second one, where the AC pump goes, but looking at that we may be able to save the AC then. Good find. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? baaudio
ya its like a piece of flat bar or something. but i guess whatever works. im gonna try fabbing a bracket for a second alt similar to the third but retain ac. well see how that goes. ive got a stock 130 on there now, my explorer came with stock 90 and i still have it. only has maybe 6 months on it. so maybe i can make it fit Team NWSPL baaudio Build Log 2001 GMC Sierra walkthrough 4 Mechman Elite 370s, 10 AGM batteries, 3 Crossfire XS v2 18s, Crossfire 8k
Autruche
I see, yeah I'm thinking of the same thing for where to put it on the explorer. I had bought a second stock alternator for my car because it was only $50 and will be running two stock alternators in my Saab, for now. I'm ditching my ac cuz there is no room for it otherwise because the only other place to put it I would need to ditch my turbo, and that sure as hell ain't happening. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Alright, time for an update. So far we did the big 3, and I have the box mostly built, all that's left for it is to build the ports, brush fiberglass resin into all of the corners and joints, paint the interior, and carpet it. Here's some pics of the wiring: Had a whole bunch of wire left and needed the box done to finish the wiring, so we unplugged the fuse and did this Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
MOAR PICS: measuring the top We started dry fitting it all together (no glue) to see if it would fit in there together instead of having to build it in the truck. We had to remove the back seats to be able to turn it around in there. anyone with an explorer that took their back seats out know how much of a pain in the ass it is. But it fit! We are working on starting an audio team, for people in Northeast Wisconsin. It's so big Evan can fit in it. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Since it fit, I started gluing it all up Then i started building the box for the amp I think it turned out pretty good Gluing the face on Running the PVC piping. The wiring will go through those so we can leave as short of runs as possible. Pipes for the amps wiring Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Used my circle jig for my jig saw, it's a pos though... not even worth the 7 bucks it was... That's as far as we got tonight, more updates tomorrow, we should have it in the truck, wired up and moving some air. only things left to do are to resin up the inside, paint the inside, carpet the outside, double the baffle, make the top plate, and make some trim rings. that and all of the treble, and get the rest of the ring terminals, get and install the second alternator and get the head unit, until then he will be borrowing one of mine I have laying around. Autruche
Did a little work today, it's rather difficult to get stuff done now that school started, no more all-nighters for his build. well today we got the box installed, the batteries wired up, the amp installed, fuse blocks put in and all we have left to do is install the speaker wire terminals, build the ports, run the RCAs and remotes, install the head unit and it will be bumping. Hopefully it will be making noise by tomorrow night. We hope to have it entirely finished in about a month, including the second alternator, carpeting and detailing the box, bracing, resining and painting the interior of the box, and installing the plexiglass window and neons in the box. Here's the progress we made on it: This is where we ran the power wire through the firewall Installng a terminal Feeding some wires Nearly finished product Here's a random one, we had always set the sub on my end table, well, one time it was set down it cracked the glass, and it's probably 1/4" thick glass.
