This is going to sound really sad Kranny but im not too sure how to set my gains on my amp ! i am running a stock head unit right now[purchasing one this next week, if any suggestions under 300 !] and i have only one 600 watt amp at the moment running both subs, getting another this weekend also ! But my bass boost and the main on my amp i adjusted to almost full way to get both of them to hit as hard as i could get them, but never have been sure on setting the gain.

Just checked, and running 8 gauge power and ground to my single 600 watt amp

ouch bassboost all the way up? this is why they get hot, get quieter. you ALWAYS set the gain and 99% of the time never touch bassboost. turn that down and follow the picture Rebel posted. also if you dont have a multimeter, buy one at walmart or any auto store, they are fairly cheap ($10 or so)

Dude, back off on the gains and turn the bass boost off. If what results is too quiet for your needs, get some better equipment which would not get stressed nearly as much under normal operating conditions.

ok i backed all the way off the bass boost and turned the gains all the way down then eased them back up until i got it close. i lost very little in the pants bass and gained alot of quality and not too mention stability ! Thanks alot for the help guys ! Any tips on adding my other amp for my subs or for choosing a head unit for under 300 ? Also plan on installing components in the doors week after next and any suggestions on that would be appreciated !!

the best bet in YOUR situation would be to get a multimeter and follow that guide rebel posted.

you can add that 2nd amp if its the same exact brand and model as the one you are using now then its just a matter of wiring the woofers correctly and tuning gains again.

for a headunit under 300 goto your local walmart or best buy and they should have a pioneer DH3200UB or DH4200UB they both are relly good and you can set it to get some nice clear sound bass for 200 or under.

Sony's are good subs for the money and pound if you put them in the right box. I had 2 xplode 12's until a couple of weeks ago when I upgraded and was happy with them . Definitely check out Alpine or Pioneer. Both company's make very solid HU's for under $300. It would be worth lookin at something that has high and low pass filters or just high pass. Whats your budget for components?
