How big is your stock alt? Like 110A?

I say you won't need a new alt for 2.5KW.

The guy might only be drawing a whopping 200a total...

I read the recent thread about not needing but being recommended electrical thread but I'll be running about 2,500-2,800watts and I want a alt that can keep voltage as close to 14 as possible. No it isn't needed. With one good extra battery you should be fine but I'd expect voltage to drop to the low 13s or 12s. I want my 14volts as long as possible. Lol

Too many people on this site saw Steve put in a whole load of alts (he does actually need them with 30KW) so they go and do big electrical upgrades where they aren't needed.

Im running a AQ2200 at .5 ohms on a stock alt and HC1400 under the hood and an HC2000 in the trunk with 1/0 throughout and I drop to the low 13's after playing full tile at idle after a song or two but it never goes below 13 except playing at idle at night with all sorts or acc. on.
