WTF??? So you ran your subs on a different amp and it didnt go into protect. Then ran Some Lvl 3's on your amp and it didnt go into protect. Thats weird as Fawk! What impedance is your level 4's on your sundown amp? Maybe if you are running the lvl 4's at a lower that 1ohm impedance its a safety protect or something. It shouldn't do that tho. If thats the case for some weird reason, maybe you will have to run the lvl 4's in series

Maybe the box rise is dropping it into protect. I wouldnt think it would, but after you said you free aired the subs and it didnt go into protect, thats the only thing i could think of that would even be reasonable for this problem.

yeah, i actually had the subs still running into the box, had it wired

amp > box > subs

but jacob said he ran my other amp and could NOT get it to go into protect no matter what he ran it at.

Yeah i heard from a buddy that sundown makes amps that can pretty much run on any load and not go into protect, that's why this is weird. So Now we know that 1. connections are good 2. Subs impedance are fine and no coil problems 3. The amp doesn't have a problem with it. and 4. The voltage is healthy. Hmm.... The only thing i can think to do now is try wiring the subs in series and see if that will allow you to full tilt and play your music. If so, I guess everyone here will have to throw out some more troubleshooting ideas for wiring in parallel without protect

you really need a DMM set at the amp while playing. put it on the voltage leads at the amp and play and watch it closely for voltage spikes/dips. then put it on your speakers and check resistance while playing, again watch it very closely.

dude thats weird as hell..

Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal?

heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked.

i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat
