Chamois
Okay guys so my amplifier has blown 2 of my subwoofers for some reason .. Okay so my amp is a Kicker ZX1000.1 First sub was an Alpine Type R that i had wired in series to 4ohm load, so i was only pushing 500Watts, which the sub should have handled without problems .. Turns out it burnt up one of the coils .. Second sub was my Rockford P3 which i had wired the same way, and it is rated at 500watts, so it should have matched perfectly .. Well now the coil locked up or something, because i cant even push the cone in, it is completely solid .. Now i know what your all gonna ask: "Is your gain to high?" "Are you clipping your subs?" No im not, my gain isnt even on, i have it turned like 1/6th of the way .. I dont understand whats wrong here .. The reason why im starting this thread is because i wanna buy a DC Level 4 Dual 4ohm, and my Kicker amp will push like 1200watts into it at 2ohm .. I dont wanna fry this sub too, im wondering if its something wrong with my amp? Or just the other subs are to underpowered for that amp? 2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T
chapo123
bass boost? anything on hu turned up? Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked. i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat 2 sa12s, saz1500 build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/91183-chapo123s-sundown-build-log/page__gopid__1250604entry1250604
korey_hofer
what is the output voltage? gain position doesn't determine if it is clipping or not previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. Jared420
I would lean more towards an amp issue, I have run type rs over 1000 rms each with no issues from the subs. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
dyeagain15
Possible sub/box ratio? As in the box being too small or big for the sub and power going to it? :edit: this is just a random thought thrown out there My F-150 Build (So Far) 2 DC L3 10's Kenwood KDC-X794 (4) Selenium ST200 (Highs) (2) RE X8 (Mids) Sundown Sub/Mid/High Amps Shuriken Batteries Knu Wiring My Feedback Thread

TeamHT
The gain is not a volume knob, you're still able to see clipping even if its only turned 1/6 of the way. Also check your filters. Are you sure you wired it correctly? Were the subs new or Craiglist specials? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Chamois
The bass boost is maybe half way or so, and everything else is off .. The low pass frequency response is at 50hz or whatever .. I dont know how to check the voltage .. My box was made especially for my Type R, i built it myself .. Headunit Bass level stays on 0, because i have a Amplifier for my Mids, so i dont need to adjust the headunit settings, just my amp settings .. The subs were from a friend, but he used them forever and didnt have problems .. Maybe it was just time for them to die? lol What are some things to do before hooking up the Level 4? Should i have a shop tune the amp for me? 2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T
korey_hofer
kickers like the gain set low previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. Chamois
the gain is low IMO .. If its any lower, then i get virtually no bass from it .. Like it doesnt sound good unless i have it turned slightly 2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T
