Airborne
I am in the process of figuring out what HU to start looking for. I have a 51 Chevy Fleetline, recent 12v conversion, EA 200a alt and no music. I am not interested in too many features. I will be running 2 6.5" PG coax in some custom kicks so too many features that will "dial" my sound are not necessary. I am going to stash it away so a wazoo display is not necessary. I have Alpine in both my other vehicles but I don't care about CD's in this car so I figured a multi media type thing would work. Any suggestions? Looking at like $200.00 for a budget. billy101
Up at the top of your price range, but has a place to store flash drives, and an ipod. behind the display...pretty neat. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500IDAX303/Alpine-iDA-X303.html?tp=5684&tab=features_and_specs I been looking at this one for awhile now, but decided do go with something else. Chris from Mi
i just bought an alpine cda-105 and for the most part really like the ipod controls, and the large dispay. The only thing i wish i had is the ability to scroll through the letters of the artists, then find the artist as opposed to scrolling through 400+ artists. audiofanaticz
alpine offers 2 headunits that are am/fm/ipod/usb only. no cd player. 1 of them is a nicer version of the other with a nice colored screen. cheaper one for 199$ http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17570_Alpine+iDA-X303.html Nicer version with a color screen and lots of options $299, out of your budget but a nice deck!! http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_24287_Alpine+iDA-X305S.html I personally use a alpine cda 105, and love it. great low priced deck with lots of features! I hope it's good. I'm hoping to get this by my paycheck on November 15th, (Paying insurance and putting some money aside for a deck). and I've figured that I'll have enough to get it by then. @Airborne, I've always used Alpine HUs and never had a problem once. Except for an Alpine HU that had a screen go out after 4 years of use. Edited September 8, 2010 by billy101 Quote First System 2002 Impala LS 3.8L V6, 128,365k miles. I have been using alpines for a while, even had a cda9833 that is still working to this day from 2004!! But my cda 105 is a great budget unit imo, and i have a pretty good setup imo and the headunit is the cheapest thing in it, but still works great, got a good price on it, never had a single issue and provides 3 sets of preouts ipod, usb, ai net for bluetooth and xm radio. Only dislike i got about it is it has a very basic eq, which dont matter since i run a external eq anyways. Check my youtube page out, you will see lots of videos of it being used. http://www.youtube.com/user/audiofanaticz Next headunit i buy tho will be the cda-117 im thinking tho!
