They are good amps, but you need 14.4+ for decent output (the 6500 you need 16v w/ 18v charge and enough alt to run the amp to get rated power which is EXPENSIVE). If I had it to do all over again I would have personally gone with Soundigital or Audioque or even the 3400's. The 3400's are a better bet than the 6500 or even 2 4000's like I have. The XXX line is antiquated. Don't get me wrong, mine slam, but when I changed my mind on voltage (was going to go 16 then 14 then said screw it and went 12) it screwed the pooch. The good thing about AQ and SD (there are others just the first two that came to mind) is that you need only add batteries (within reason obviously). Oh one other thing to keep in mind. If you don't have the power and go with 3400's you WILL fry shit. Running at .5 ohm with 6000+ watts isn't anything to fool around with. They make shitty power at 12v, they seem to go straight to hard clip and they go really really messed up if you get voltage drop. But for me the deal breaker on them was the finishing of the heatsink. They're machined but they didn't de-bur them or whatever, the heatsink will slice the fuck out of your hands if you're not careful. For an amp that costs that much, it's a pretty lame oversight. 10.x volts fo' life!
TeamHT Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 this just seems like such a useless thread..............why would you want an amp to beat "their" ass? if you like replacing subs constantly then feel free to turn the gain up and use bass boost. best way to beat subs to shit, and so uber cool loud while doing it. on a side note, i do not like any of the XXX amps. never had the performance i used to expect from soundstream. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
