high output racing alternator?

i have a hifonics 2100.1d. i have to get a new battery, probly a yellow top optima.

i dont know if i need a high output alternator.

this will fit in my car, but it says its for racing. but im pretty sure itll work. but i dont want to waste money on stuff i dont need.

is something ill need?

I'd say no. If it's a racing alternator, it's probably designed to do high amps at high RPM's, where as it might not perform as well when your car is just sitting there idling. It might be better to look into another company such as MechMan for an alternator for your car.

You could use that alternator on your car, but the output at idle will not be as high as it would be with one of our units. We have a special large-diameter retro-fit alternator that bolts right in place of your old school 12si. Our 150 amp unit will have DOUBLE the output at idle of anything 12si based. Our direct direct fit unit is $299 shipped, and will make a HUGE difference in your voltage, brightness of headlights, and how loud your subs hit.
