Truth behind DD/AQ subs?

I quite enjoy the way my 2 AQ hdc3 10's sound, tuned to 33.5 hz.

heard,had DDs (they r "fast and loud")...but if i would use them again >> than only for burps ....not for music

and yes... their sound is kinda "hollow" (mechanical) ...not that kind of "deep" bass u would like with majority of music

I gave up on DD and threw in the towel...

My Ascendant Audio Mayhem 18s do so much better then my old 9518s with the composite cones, and with paper cones..

Never really heard the hollow sound personally, all I can think of is it comes from higher tuned boxes made to burp not street beat like all my installs with my 9500s and 3500s have been in... Tho they just didnt last long street beating.
