J_Bird Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 I'm planning on painting my dash in my 2005 GMC Sierra and as I'm sure you know just like Steve's dash the trim panel has those grooves in it on both sides so I tried filling them with Bondo and after all the sanding, priming, and clear coating the Bondo is starting to pop out of the grooves on its own. Any suggestions? Skullz Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 Epoxy should work well for that after you remove the bondo and sand down the plastic. Quote 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

korey_hofer Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 bondo should never be over 1/8" thick Quote previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. I talk shit on other forums like a little bitch and hope i don't get caught out on the street.
J_Bird Posted September 19, 2010 Author Report Posted September 19, 2010 trying to do this? flex filler from urethane supply. Yep exactly what I'm tryin to do I just couldn't get my paint to look as smooth and the Bondo is popping out. Of course I didn't use any adhesion promotor and it probli would have been better to use that special interior paint. n8ball2013 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 no adhesion promoter there. sand with 120. sanded with 220 wetsand with 320 primer primer primer wetsand with 320 primer primer primer wetsand wtih 600 Its not that shiny normally but it is smooth. That was still wet on one of the umpteenth coats of primer. I'm going to base it with some silver and then red over it. ive got my overhead console apart to paint and ill be starting my door handle trim pieces as well. probably some other stuff too but im sure you can imagine how much work is in it oh yeah thats all rattle can too. J_Bird Posted September 19, 2010 Author Report Posted September 19, 2010 Yeah I plan on doin all the plastic on the interior. And did mine with rattle can too. It probli wouldn't be that bad if I sanded it and put more paint. Did you clear coat yours? Cuz I got the paint smooth and after the clear coat it was fucked up again. I'm probli gonna sand everything off and use the real spray gun on the air compressor. That'll probli give me a lot better finish. J_Bird Posted September 20, 2010 Author Report Posted September 20, 2010 Yeah I'm just gonna sand mine down redo the bondo and hit it with the spray gun instead of the rattle cans. And car quest mixes interior paint so i'll get it there. A guy at an auto body shop told me interior paint has a certain sheen to it that makes it better.
