What can you do with them? clarion had a proprietary optical plug that you could hook into a cd changer so you could let the d/a converters in the head unit decode the changer. The d/a's were dual mono 20 bit burr brown. So after getting an optical plug off ebay I cut it in two sliced a toslink cable to it. I plugged the toslink into my home dvd player. I plugged in the 6 disc changer and what would you know!!!!!!!! When the dvd player would send out a digital signal it would shut the analog changer off and My burr browns would decode the dvd player....so I naturally decided that I could get a hard drive reader from western digital hook a 160gb hdd the western digital piece had a toslink out. I bought a 9" screen and now I can decode all audio using my old school 1996 deck...fucking sweet. It sounds as good as a cd. The best part is. I can burn my favorite cd's as wave file's for lossless tranmissions. I can also play video files off the hard drive. So I downloaded a bunch of music videos and play them when giving demo's.. The only down side if there is one. I have to keep the changer hooked up, But I guess that may really not be a down side considering that if the western digital piece isnt sending signal my cd player will still recieve analog out from the changer.... sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
