corteznewbie
well today i shall attempt my new box w/ sum help do to a injury. anyways according to the calculator if i build the box thats 32w 24 h and 26 d and a port thats 3 h 16 w and 9 d will give me 30.83 hz. subs will be inverted and will be roughly 8.84 cubic fee. big enough for 4 12" subs. my question is the port area enough and how would i calculate the 2x4 that i will be usen for center bracing. AUDIOADDICT02
To calculate the 2x4, you could do height x width x length(in inches), go to onlineconversion.com and convert from cubic inches to cubic feet and input that number in the bracing displacement box in the calc...as for the port area, I wouldn't be able tell you if its enough since I'm on my phone right now(sorry), but there's a port area range on the calc that you should stay within... corteznewbie
the port area per foot says 5.72 squared. and i'm using a 2"x4" by 24" board just cuz its free and handy Quote Team DBs (Driven By sound)
OBI
Just multiply 2x4x24 then divide by 1728 to get the cubic feet of the 2x4.

Try a bigger port and see what you net volume would be afterward... corteznewbie
so should i go higher or wider to achieve that Quote Team DBs (Driven By sound)
OBI
so should i go higher or wider to achieve that What ever works for you man. But remember increasing the port area will rise the tuning. And to bring the tuning down again will decrease the volume in the box. Meaning you might have to make your box bigger.
