Anyone some experience with this amp? MA Audio

I had a friend that ran the Ma Audio HK-4000d a while ago.

He ran it below its stable ohm load and it took it, got pretty warm however. I know he sold it and upgraded to a pair of Kicker 2500s and got a lot louder.

They do not make the cleanest power either.

The HK-802 is just like every other amp in the "Hard Kore" (HK)....

They only make true advertised power (in this case 4400watts rms @ 1 ohm bridge) when they are ran on a 16volt electrical system that charges at 18volts.

So you will only see this 4400watts rms @ 17.5 volts.

Otherwise like all their other amps, it will only do 2200wattsrms bridged @ 1 ohm with 14.1volts

Here is a link to their 10,000watt amp which breaks out the specs.

So my personal opinion is $450 for a 2200wrms amp is not worth it.

At this point your better off buying an Audio Que 2200 for $389 new. http://www.audioque.com/aq/?page_id=28

or try to find a used audioque 3500 or the new audio que 3500.1d which makes more power used.

You could save up an extra $150 and not buy that MA Audio amp and look for a pair of Audiopipe 3000s which do rated power. 3000wrms @ 2 ohms each for about $600 for 2 amps.

Otherwise a Cresendo 3kwp would be a good amp, they sell for $550 new do rated power and are very very simular to the Sundown SAZ-3000!!

This would be my choice personally and would walk all over the MA Hk802 at 13.8volts, and 18volts!! http://www.crescendoaudio.com/product.php?productid=17515

i used to have this kind of amp before, it was a digital amplifier with volt meter indicator on it and it has a fan inside of the amplifier, i'm using it to power my soundstream XXX 15" before.. it was a very nice amplifier, though it was a power hungry amplifier cause it was indicated as class AB.. i sell it already cause i'm having a hard time to give some power on my amplifier..
