Ok ,I am working on a idea and had a question about the box volume and port calculations.

1.When Figuring Final box Volume do you have to take into account the Displacement of the drivers?

2. when entering information for port do you use the volume including displacement(see#1) or the initial volume?

3.can inverting drivers change displacement?

If need be Please move to Enclosure forum .

Thanks,

I'd double baffle that at least. And net volume is after subtracted displacements. This is what is used in tuning calculation. Total volume is gross. Also, inverting sub can save you from .1-.2 cubic foot depending on sub.

definitely double baffle. You could gain a small amount if the cone is deepish, but it looks like you are using kickers, which have reasonably flat cones. You may gain a tiny bit, but the difference will not matter.

What's your port area per cubic foot?

EDIT: with the deep cone thing I mean with it inverted.

dont forget the motor. kickers have decent sized motors and thick baskets. say .2 per sub, and that's 1.2 cubic feet of difference.

but imo doesn't look like enough port area, unless that box isn't made to scale

Actually Guys I am going to use the Power Acoustik PSQ-10w

700w RMS Rated

# Fs :34.9

# Qms :5

# Vas :1.314

# Xmax mm :10

# Xmech mm :15

# Qes :0.8

# Re :6.6

# Znom :8

# BL :16.39

# RMS Power :700

# Qts :0.69

# SPL :85

# V.C. Size (in.) :2.0

# V.C. Imp :DVC 4

# Cut-out :9.25x9.25

# Depth :5.3

# Sealed :1.25

# F3 Hz :41.16

# Ported :1.75

# Port :4x12.5

# Tune Freq. (Hz) :37.88

# F3 Hz :31.65

( box is 14 x16= 224 cube port is 18x4x8 = 576)

*edit*

if I use the theory of finding the volume of a cone, I get 0.2325 ft^3 by using a radius of =4.5 and a Depth/Height of 5.3" (mounting depth)

I am going to have to re Figure my Port anyways to include Speaker Displacement.

New Volume would be Approximately 12.9 (including woofer Displacement)

12.9x16 gives me a port area of of approx 206 (206.4"^3)

if I go port 13wx4Hx4.5D = 238"^3 whick means it would be 14% larger than needed .

Proper way = Take your port Area Desired (pa) divide it by either height or width desired (h/w) and that will give you your proper dimensions.

pa L

206 / 38.5" = 5.3"

so my proper port size would be 38.5L x5.3 W :woot:

But this is all approximate so. What you Guys think? :ehh:
