Multiple Batteries?

So I just recently purchased an AQ 3500.1 a DC LVL 5 15" two stinger batterys (what the local shop had) an Alpine CDA 117 headunit I'm still hunting down Components for the front and a 4 channel amp. But I was wondering on how to hook up the batteries? Can I just have two runs of 1/0 to the positve battery in the back and make new ground(s) for the back two batterys? I was reading about battery isolaters but it kept saying stuff about playin music with the car off which I dont think I have ever done. Its not for comps or anything just being a daily driver with some decent sound. I'm not a total newb to all the stereo stuff just with multiple batts, I ran a kinetik battery in my old car but I just used it as the main battery too. Thanks for the help in advance!

Also I do plan on upgrading the alternator as soon as mr. p can email me back and let me know if his alt were from the 5.2 motor and he just had to do some modifications to fit or if he had iraggi custom make them. Otherwise if someone can let me know peferably either one of these two companies (DC Power or Mechman) make a high amp alt for a 96 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 inline 6 thanks.

im just gettin into this stuff too so this is what ive picked up from obscene amounts of reading and the limited installing i've done. i see a lot of varied opinions but it seems like its best to replace the battery under the hood when you're putting an extra in the back, so maybe put a stinger up front and one in the back. don't bother with an isolator, but you'll wanna run wire - to - along with the + to +. also put a fuse within 18 inches of the second battery. not sure how many runs you'll need. i just got a dc power alternator put in, you could shoot them a message, they reply pretty quickly.

ok thanks. Do you mean another fuse behind the second battery? Like front batt fuse rear batt fuse? maybe Ill pick up another smaller battery for the front. I know what you mean with the reading. A lot of stuff I read gets so off topic so I dont like too read that info. Some stuff I read said hook it up like a capacitor just inline with a new ground. but it'd make more sense to try and hook it up with 2 runs of + and 2 runs of - I have 130 ish feet of knukonceptz I can use. Another thing is with the dual ground and dual postives on the amp should I just make two short runs off of the back battery? Thanks again.

front bat -- fuse ------ fuse -- back bat. this is for the positive. i have the wire going from the battery to amp fused as well.

you can hook it up without the running from neg to neg but its best to do both. which batteries did you get exactly? if you're gonna get a h/o alternator you'll most likely be fine with just those two. it seems daunting to put a big battery up front but i manage to cram xs power's biggest one under my hood lol. for the amps i was told by a install tech at sonicelectronix to ground them to the battery so thats what ima do. so yea, just run two short runs of both to the battery + and - make sure you have a good ground though. sand down where you're grounding it and the terminals as well and make sure its bolted down really well. i drilled a small hole and used a self tapping screw to bolt it down for mine.

Should I just make a new ground like I would for an amp and hook it to the battery instead? Then a short jumper to the next negative on the battery? Then to the amp? Sorry for the questions just dont wanna do some stupid mistake and ruin my equipment! I was gonna get a smaller (but matching) battery for under the hood in the future. If not I'm fine with trying to tuck one of the batts under the hood and another in back and would be easier I think. Thanks for all your help.

i understand, just wanna do it right the first time can be frustrating trying to figure this all out yourself with google search, i would know lol. im pretty sure you'll be fine with just those two batteries, it shouldn't be hard to fit under the hood. h/o alternator would be a good idea. only experience i have with alts is dc power. pretty sure they can get something for you. really easy to install as well. i havent had a chance to clamp mine yet cuz im waiting for an amp but i've read nothing but good reviews on them. so you'll do two runs from front to back for both the positive and negative. then on the back battery negative you'll do two runs to the chasis of the vehicle. then you'll hook the 2 wires for the ground on the amp to the rear battery negative. also if you haven't done the big 3 yet you'll definitely need to. i can help you out sometime if you're only two hours away, we can meet halfway or something.

I would do 2 runs of + and 2 runs of - from front to back. You want a fuse on both ends of the runs between the batteries. I would just keep your battery under the hood and put the 2 stingers in the back. You will want to connect 1 each of the +and- to each battery and then a jumper between the 2 rear batteries.

I am no expert on this but I do have experience with multiple batteries.

If someone could draw me a diagram that would be great. I will be installing all the wires on friday and saturday and amp will be here monday around 10 thats normally when the ups man shows up. Wow.. I make things way more difficult they need to be, it just kinda came to my mind as I was falling asleep about what you two are telling me. I do have a few more questions tho. Do I do 2 runs for the jumper wires goin from both of the back batterys? Or will one run of 1/0 be fine for the 6 inches between the batterys? And AQ 3500.1 requires a 380 amp fuse, so after the back batterys is it ok to put a 200 amp fuse on each run goin to the amp? Would they want a 380 on each side? If I'm over thinking this again I'm gonna blame it on lack of sleep. And last question (for tonight at least) how do you think my voltage will be? I dont wanna drop below 12.7 without a high output alt, will that be good or more batterys? Thanks again for the help guys
