atxiq
I have a 1988 Chevy Caprice Classic and want to build a box for two 15" SMD Subs. But I'm stuck on this one topic Ive heard that I cannot build a ported box in a sealed trunk unless I cut a hole somewhere that lets the air flow to the cab. I understand that ported boxes are made for SUV's and that the air coming for the port has to flow threw the cab, but is it possible to build a ported box in my sealed trunk without cutting a huge hole in my seats or rear deck? the reason i ask is because i do not want to cut a hole or holes in my rear deck or seats Edited October 27, 2010 by atxiq
Freshman6969
well you see, how this is done is by drilling holes in your back seat to let airflow though, then you need to buy a funky pup....nuff said Quote Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k! Why would you EVER WANT flex?huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct? DylanH
I had a ported box in my truck, no holes in the rear deck or anything the only down side is EVERYTHING rattles. But I didn't have any damplifier. KAPONE.SS
Port it throught the rear deck or cut a hole in the rear deck. Best would be bandpass so you can get all the output in to the cab. Quote 96 IMPALA SS Pioneer DEH-P8600MP H/U Pioneer TS-C160R 6.5" Pioneer TS-D690R 6x9" JBL GTO755.6II Stinger spdh-10 cap 100sqft. He just said he doesn't want to cut a hole in the deck. If the seats fold down you can still face forward and seal it off. If you can't pull the seat down then you're better off doing sub and port backwards. Quote 2006 Nissan Z Track. My Feedback Thread i used to think a band pass was something you were around your neck or something.
n8ball2013
yes you can do it. it just wont be as loud as if you port through the deck or not. one of the sickest setups id ever seen was the rear deck lid was the top of the enclousre and the guy had two eclipse ti 15s in it.
