Think of a 1" sub with the same magnet trying to reproduce the same sound as the 15".. Just can't get as deep, loud, or pressure..

Thats a good point.

I was told since the bigger cone is heavier, the FS drops, and it will play lower.

Makes sense to me, but I'm the village idiot.

EDIT: However, according to either DD or AQ, all models in a line have the same capabilities. I'm inclined to believe the first before the second.

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.

Don't go just off of FS specs. It's more box than anything. But yes larger speakers do usually play a little deeper but it's not the end of the world to pick a large speaker for low tuning. My xl 12 fs is 38.9 but my box tuned to 31 peaks at 32 just fine.

Spl is still daily. Its just how loud you want it daily.

Are you saying a SPL XL should be ouder than a regular XL if in optimum boxes with no variables? isnt it safer to get normal subs for daily?

Ive read that bigger subs (of the same level/model) have a lower FS, like you said.

a stock 10 has a fs of 33hz and the 15 is 25 hz. I doubt I would notice THAT much of a difference.

i promise you that you will notice a difference

thats a huge increase in cone area

the one main difference is the physicality of it all. sure your tens can play 30 Hz but with the 15's you will feel it everywhere. its such a cool thing. after all sub bass is meant to be felt more than heard

I wasn't talking DC's SPL version of their subs. A meant actual spl. Sound pressure level. It is a daily want for most of us. Even if it isn't about any numbers you still want to be louder than that one guy and so on..

Whoops, my bad. I definitely agree with the bolded part. I would like to hit at least a 137, but it isnt my goal.
