square port size?

I am trying to make plans for a box. I am sure I can do it and I have the time to do it right. I know that I need about 8 to 8.5 cu. ft. for the box. Im just not sure how to calculate for a port and I dont want a round port either. I am getting 2 R.F. T2D215's. I know that I want to use 1" MDF and that I am going to make the box 46" wide and the H & D can be played with to come up with the right cu. ft. I can't find any info on how to build it so I am here hope for someone to help a brother out. Thanks, P.S. SMD I like your style and wish I had the funds and know how to build the way you do. length x width is your port area, after you find that, you go for depth to find the tuning frequency you want

but a 10x10 port will be 100 sq inch of port

Generally its 12-16 sq inches of port area per cube.

Aero ports > Round ports > square/slotted ports.

Square and slotted ports use the most space inside a box and round pvc/sono tube ports along with areo ports use the least space inside the box and efficiency with round/aero is much better than a square port is.

The only problem with aero ports is that there is a higher chance of building up turbulance or backpressure. If you do use an aeroport, make sure you turn the volume up very slowly to see how the sub(s) react to the box. If there is turbulance, you will literally launch the sub and be forced to recone it. If you can avoid that issue, aeroports are the way to go.
