A fuse is kinda like a condom same concept it protects you froms electrical shorts and such except if one breaks then your screwed lol.and what wire are you gonna be using?i wouldnet be using anything less then a 1/0 wire when installing that amp and if you dont ahve it id wait till you do have it to install that amp That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do. AMI CUSTOMS Posted November 6, 2010 Report Share Posted November 6, 2010 LOL, a fuse doesn't protect the amp, okay go hook up a few runs of 0 gauge wire in a vehicle with moderate electrical, but the guy still has drop and he is one of these people who likes to sit and just idle with his system at full tilt, so he has about 4 volts of drop, so you have a 300 amp anl fuse on that 0 gauge wire, but the amp under normal conditions only pulls 180 amps, well now with his voltage drop the current goes way up, to 280 amps, and his amp fires, but it was fused????? It was fused with the wrong size fuse!!!! it should have a 250 or 200 amp fuse and once he had drop and the current went up the fuse would have popped protecting the amp!!! Not the wire.... I am not talking about the OP, just using an example because I have seen this numerous times!!!! The fuse protects the amp and wire!!!!
