Recommended Posts

I just did another one that is at 8.09cubes at 35.50hz. I will be running two sundown 3k to the xl's

Try 6.5-7 cubes then

Damn, that's a big box for just 2 xl 15s. Shoot for 6.5-7.5 cubes after displacements, 7 cubes should be good. Looking at like 120 square inches of port, should be golden. As far as tuning, if you're unsure between 33Hz and 35Hz tuning, just tune to 34Hz. It'll still get down, but sound great, musically.

Honestly you will probably never notice a difference...

this^^^

and if your worried about your box playing well below tuning, your port area will play a bigger factor

to play well below tuning should it be bigger or smaller port area? sorry to thread jack

Smaller

I would try and keep it around 7 cubes net or a little smaller and use 35 - 36 hz tuning. 15 sq in of port per net cube should be fine.

you mean like this?

port area: 14.33

net volume: 7.15 cu ft

tuning frequency: 34.82Hz

Do you guys usually just round it off so instead of it being 34.82, it'll be considered 35Hz?

I think you'll be surprised if you build your box to 8 cubes... Unless you've done it, dont be talking smack about it... I've had 1 and 2 15's, and used several different sized boxes, and on a single 15 I had 5.5 cube, and it was great, on 1 and 2K...

OP, you'll be fine at 8 cubes...

What subs were you using?

And you do realize the the OP is using 2 Sundown 3ks on 2 XLs, right? I'm guessing he will strap the amps at 2 ohms.
