CortezDTV
I also had very good luck with a single 8" round port tunned in the 25 to 29hz range, i want to get a 12" pipe and try the round port again Quote SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/
kirill007
Would the enclosure depend on how long they play before they get warm? Planning 5.5cuft each tuned to 30hz with 8sq" of port area per cuft. Planning to do a sort of half clam shell sort of design Yes, it does depend. 8sq inch of port area per cu ft is too little for this subwoofer, do about 18sq inches per cu ft. With 5.5 cu ft that would be about 100sq inches of port area. Quote Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for. DodgerCannon
That would mean to tune to 30hz 38" x 5" my port would be 40" long..... the dc distributor for the UK has recommended between 8sq" and 10sq" per cubic foot... CortezDTV
Jeez not to say anything against him, but i dont think u will find anyone on here that will say that lil, but u never know 10-20sq foot per cube, it all depends on the car too 8-12 just seems small to me, i had small ports with my last two boxes and now i finally opened it up a little, and im barely to 15sq fer foot, and its much better in my opinon Quote SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/

CortezDTV
My bigger ports hit lower and move more air even tho its tunned higher a few hz higher Quote SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/

thorshammer
Yes the lvl 5 can take both those amps with no problem as long as the signals clean. Much more in fact. As far as port 8-10sq in per cu is small in my opionion. 16-18sq in per cu ft seems to be ideal.
kirill007
I don't know who the distributor is for the uk, (i hope not bladeice ) but 8-12sq inch is more what i would reccomend for a good aeroport.(but 12-15 would be better) And about 14-20 sq inches per cu ft is what i would recommend for a normal slot port. DodgerCannon
What sort of tuning do you guys use when using 18sq inches of port area?.... I want to tune low, 30hzish.... What port area is meade using? His port looks quite small considering.
