what about the possibility that this guy will release information that will cause serious repercussions for the entire planet? My bet is the angry homo Manning will die in a cell very soon.

I do believe they still hang people for treason.

Legal definition of treason.

This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

What else would you call releasing the identities of informants who have helped us in Afghanistan and Iraq?

One last time....This guy has openly said he is doing this to "bring America down a peg or two". This is his goal. He is only a hero to those who feel the same hatred towards America that he does...apparently this applies to a few people here.

He turned himself in to UK police for questioning a couple of days ago... If the US had any sort of charge they could drop on him, he would already be sitting in a jail cell state side. And no it's not the same as spies getting information and sharing it with other governments. You can argue that the people that leaked these documents to Wikileaks committed a crime, but Wikileaks is simply exposing it to the world along with 5 other news papers. You don't see people bitching about the news papers releasing the cables or "having illegal information" like you were saying earlier.

If Bush were still in office, I agree. He would be dead or in a jailcell stateside. But the idiot in charge doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground and is afraid to make a decision. He can't even handle the current tax situation. And yes it is the same as spies, what makes it different? As for the other newspapers, I can see your argument there, not sure how that should be handled. I hadn't read that yet. Are these other newspapers using stolen information as blackmail just like Wikileaks is? Because I guess thats what patriots do.

Wikileaks asked the government to help them censor the articles but refused. So Wikileaks sent the cables to 5 large news papers world wide who helped them censor and release the cables. The only people getting heat are the people at Wikileaks, because they are a new small organization. And I don't see how any of this is black mail, he's exposing crimes within our own government. I simply cannot understand how you feel so strongly that what he is doing is wrong (when none of it is criminal) yet all the things exposed about the US is ok. Crimes were committed, they're finally exposed and you want to just sweep them back under the carpet. These are actual crimes, they broke international law. He's just reporting what they did, how does that make him a criminal? When your local news reports that a murder suspect was arrested, should they be arrested for reporting the news?

Exactly, I love my country, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. If all these people hate it so bad here that they want to undermine our way of life, GET THE FUCK OUT!!! We don't want you here. I've lived here for 44 years, I'm raising my kids here and I don't plan on leaving here. What form of Govt would you rather have? IF you want socialism, just head north. Communism? North Korea, China? Hell, you could grow a beard and go live in the desert for all I care but don't mess with my way of life. Because what happens when the country is weakened and international relations are ruined because of this asshole, then we run the risk of a foreign power trying to take advantage of us and trying to change our way of life. Did you flunk out of history in school? Did you even go to school?

Haha, I love how everything is Obama's fault.

Especially all the things that can be traced back to the Bush Administration right? I love how once Obama took office and all of Bush's fuck ups landed in his lap, people were like OMG OBAMA RUINED THE ECONOMY! No, he's trying to fix what Bush did.

So since you love America, we shouldn't be held accountable for crimes we commit? Fact of the matter is America thinks they can do whatever the fuck they want and get away with it, and people are finally starting to stand up against it. People need to be held accountable for their actions, regardless of what country they're from and that is the goal of Wikileaks.
