I turned the bass eq all the way down and the gain down one notch and now it hasn't tapped on the couple songs it used to. Still need to check it out on sines but as far as I can tell that fixed my problem!

the former is the thing the voice coil is wrapped around...it's the paper, kapton or aluminum tube with the wire on it. only the wire part is the voice coil. The former is glued to the cone (diaphragm), usually with thick black epoxy.

I would really like to know exactly how your crossovers are set up. The way you made it sound earlier is you have the crossover on your amp turned down way too low.

The low pass on my amp is set around 80-90hz but that doesn't matter because my HU is set to 63hz and the hpf is set to 100hz

ok that sounds fine, you said earlier that your LP on the amp was all the way down or low as possible or something like that.

It was :P but even all the way is only 50hz but I tweaked it a bit. I'm still messing with it to try and get it to stop completely and I'm pulling the sub today to see if anything is wrong with it

Its kind of hard to see the former through the aluminum basket but nothing around the coil is cracked or ripped so thats good. I think im actually going to just leave it out until i get the T1500 and can tune it myself or with someones help who knows what they are doing. I am just going to throw the P1s back in because if they get trashed im not really out much. I dont want to risk that amp clipping this sub and tearing it to sh*t

look at the former where it meets the cone. move the cone a little side to side, see if it separates at the joint. look at the glue for cracks.
