Alpine face stopped working

Recommended Posts

Today while driving around, the face on my Alpine CDA-9856 died. It first froze for a second, then went black and won't respond to any input. It is still playing music but won't show anything or respond to any input at all. I'm stumped on what to do and haven't seen this before. It came back on for 3-4 seconds later in the day but went black right after.

It's been fine for 3+ years and the wiring is fine. I'm trying to figure out this problem and if anyone else has seen it before.

3 years is pretty good for a hu to last. its about time to get a new one anyway... you have got your moneys worth though if you ask me... it probably just pooped out and thats the end of it. just went bad. if im wrong then say so but thats what my guess would be.

This happened to my 9857 a while back. It acted like it does when the face is flipped down (no display/no response).

I cleaned the contacts on the deck and the face and it's been fine since.

No guarantee of course but it's worth a shot.
