New ALTS (junk yard) :) CS144

Recommended Posts

Yea, its been awhile thats for sure. I've been at college living on campus and I left my truck at home..

I will try to keep this updated on the alt bracket.

Hopefully USPS will find that HO alternator I bought a month ago. otherwise I might have to make another trip to the junk yard

Very interested in this bracket you build on the drivers side of the motor. I have a CS130 and brand new OEM replacement still sucks lol.

Nice, multi stock alts is still better than one :) good job

yup :) I was thinking about just going with one big 300 amp one, but then it would probably have cooling and stress issues, so I decided this was a better route.

So now I have a 200 amp, 150amp, and 150amp. thats like 500 amps for 125$

I feel like this would be a better option for longer life span than a HO alt.

98crewcab, look for a CS144 or AD244 at the junk yard.

The AD244 has better cooling and the bridge rectifier & voltage regulator are mounted "outside" of the case rather than inside where they can get hot.

The CS144 is just a 15lb beast, make sure you get the right case tho. You want the late model (needle bearing in the back)It is a much better studier case. You can tell the late model b/c the steel cover for the needle bearing is usually rusted like the 200 amp one I have. Im pretty sure those have 50 amp diodes too
